DYHA Letter of Commitment
The undersigned player hereby accepts a position with a Darien Youth Hockey Travel Team for the 2023-2024 Connecticut Hockey Conference season.
We, the undersigned player and parents/legal guardians of said player, by executing this Letter of Commitment, agree to the following terms and conditions of this commitment:
1. We agree to remain with, and actively participate in, the program for the duration of the 2023- 2024 season.
2. We agree to pay the full season financial obligation, as set by Darien Youth Hockey Association (“DYHA”), a Connecticut Hockey Conference (“CHC”) member program.
3. WE AGREE NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY OTHER YOUTH HOCKEY PROGRAM, WHETHER OR NOT A CHC MEMBER PROGRAM, FOR THE 2023-2024 SEASON.
4. We understand and accept that if the undersigned player refuses to participate with the above named program during the 2023-2024 Hockey Season that he/she is ineligible to participate with any other CHC member program and must sit out the remainder of the 2023-2024 hockey season.
5. We understand and accept that a player who sits out due to refusal to participate remains obligated to satisfy any outstanding financial obligations due to the program for the 2023-2024 season.
6. We understand and accept that a player who sits out all or a portion of a season is not entitled to any partial or full refund of program fees or expenses.
7. We understand that for the primary winter hockey season (e.g., mid/late November to first week of March) participation in DYHA hockey games and practices will be a priority over any other youth travel or non-travel sports, e.g., basketball, squash, ski team.
8. We understand and accept that a player must obtain a proper Connecticut Hockey Conference release from DYHA prior to participating in a game with any other program in any ensuing season.
9. We understand and accept that this Letter of Commitment may be terminated only by mutual consent between the above named program and player. Upon such mutual consent and payment of any outstanding financial obligations, the program will issue a proper Connecticut Hockey Conference Release, the player may transfer to another program. Such mutually agreed on transfers must occur prior to CHC deadline or June 1, 2023. No refunds of program fees or expenses will be granted in the case of such mutual consent except in the case of termination of this Letter of Commitment on or before June 1, 2023, only to allow a player to accept an offer to join a CHC Tier I program.
10. We, the undersigned player and parents/legal guardians, further understand that breach of any of the foregoing terms and conditions of this Letter of Commitment, and/or any DYHA policies or procedures, and/or USA Hockey rules may result in the player’s suspension or expulsion from the team as the Board of Directors of DYHA deems appropriate.
