2018 - 2019 DYHA WAITLIST APPLICATION

2018 - 2019 DYHA Waitlist Application

If you are interested in joining the DYHA Hockey program and your child DID NOT play in DYHA during the 2017 - 2018  season, please complete this online registration form. Submitting this form is not a guarantee of a position in the DYHA Hockey program, but it will place your son/daughter on our waitlist for the 2018 - 2019 hockey season.  Please click here to apply to Waitlist.

You will be contacted by the DYHA Registrar after the completion of the returning player registration process (possibly as early as March) in the event a position becomes available.  Other positions may become available as we form teams towards the end of summer.

Thank you for your interest in DYHA Hockey.

SAD NEWS

Dear DYHA and Ice Cat Families,

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden and untimely passing of Nico Mallozzi. Nico played with the Connecticut Rough Riders. His sister, Marina, plays with the U14A1 Ice Cats.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Mallozzi Family.

COLD AND FLU SEASON INFORMATION

DYHA Families,

Effective immediatley, DYHA is taking special precautions for the remainder of the season due to the increase of influenza (flu) in the state of Connecticut. Although anyone can get the flu, it is most serious in the elderly, very young children, in people with chronic illnesses (such as lung disease, cancer, heart disease, or diabetes), or those with weakened immune systems. Influenza spreads easily in discharges from the nose and throat, usually when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

THE FOLLOWING PROTOCOLS SHALL REMAIN IN PLACE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON AS PER DYHA AND THE CONNECTICUT HOCKEY CONFERENCE.

We ask that you do the following to help us prevent further spread of flu among our families:

  • Do not attend practices or games if you know you are sick.  Wait to until you have been without a fever for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication). Frequent and thorough hand washing is a MUST. Wash your hands frequently using antibacterial soap or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • There is to be no sharing of water bottles during practices or games.
  • Water bottles should be run through the dishwasher after each use.
  • Players must bring their own water bottles to games and practices.
  • Gloves are to remain on at the end of the games on the handshake line.
  • Cover your cough with the inside of your arm,  not your hand.
  • Be sure to air out and thoroughly dry equipment after practices and games.

If you or your players(s) experience flu-like symptoms or a fever please see your physician or pediatrician.

Talk to your doctor about getting the flu vaccine if you haven't had it already. It's not too late. Flu season will continue through March and peak in mid - February.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us to manage this situation.

WINTER WEATHER UPDATE AND RINKS REPORT

Winter Weather Update

Please bear in mind DYHA’s Winter Weather guidelines.

As the teams decide what to do regarding any given weather event, please keep in mind Safety is paramount, and that ultimately any decision regarding travel to a rink and player participation should be based on the comfort level of each individual family.

1. Assume rinks are open unless you hear otherwise from the DYHA or your coach/manager.  We will send a note to your coaches and managers and update the website as conditions change or develop.

2. Your team’s ice slot will not be adjusted and coaches can use it as they see fit.  If your coaches feel conditions warrant the cancelation of practice they are free to do so and will inform you via email.

3. With regard to games, your coaches or managers will be in touch with their opposition counterparts to make sure everybody is on the same page.  In the event they mutually decide to cancel a game they will inform the team via email.

4. Please keep an eye on the website as we will also post major developments there as conditions dictate.
