A regularly scheduled board meeting of DYHA took place on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 7:45pm at Stamford Twin Rinks.  Present board members were Todd Halloran, Frank Cataudo, Art Flynn, John von Stade, Jeff Eccleston, John Fraser, David Hill, Larry Paredes, Lisa McCarthy, Dave Kreppein, Kevin Cassidy, Pete Canelli and Gigi Williams.
 
President’s Remarks
Todd Halloran opened the meeting with comments on the culmination of the House season with a successful Super Sunday on March 3, 2013.  Winners of each house division and the Appleton Award winners are posted on the home page of the website.
 
Treasurer
John Fraser presented a draft Injured Player Refund Policy.
 
House
Dave Kreppein provided a recap of Super Sunday operations.  Future Recommendations were:
  • have light/dark jerseys available in the event teams in the final have similar colors
  • all coaches on ice at any stage to wear helmets
  • extend DJ’s hours to include Mighty Mite Games
  • consider running games in order of age level, moving Appleton Award Presentation to conclusion of Squirt game.
The participation in the draw for the free summer camp was changed in advance of Super Sunday from those in attendance to all house players aged 7 -17.  A winner, chosen at random, who can use the camp on an available date, was announced at the event.
 
Sponsorship/Communication
Sponsor Recognition plaques are going out for hand delivery to sponsors, per Lisa McCarthy.
To further recognize sponsors, team photographs with descriptions of accomplishments and names of sponsors to be displayed on website home page, on a rotating basis.
 
Founders’ Award
Nominee criteria circulated to Travel program head coaches for Pee Wee, Bantam, U-12 and U-14.  Nominations due March 15, 2013.
 
Registration
Assistant Registrar recruitment is progressing.
David Hill gave an update on the current number of players on the waitlist.
The possibility of pre-registering for Midget Tryouts was discussed.
David Hill also outlined the registration dates for the 2013-2014 season:
  • Mites to Midgets – March 15 to April 1
  • Mini- and Mighty-Mites – April 2
The membership will receive notification of these dates and a note on the potential repercussions for returning players not registering within the allotted timeframe.
 
Scheduling
Dates for Midget, Bantam and Girls U-12 and U-14 being finalized.  They will be published as soon as confirmed.
Pete Canelli introduced feedback from the house and travel surveys in respect of rink preferences. 
Ice requirements will be evaluated and secured in line with current and planned team offerings.
In tandem with this evaluation, John Fraser and Pete Canelli will finalize Travel Supplements prior to Spring Tryouts for those age-groups impacted.
 
Travel
Todd Halloran outlined local developments for the Mite age-group.
The Travel Directors presented a recap of season results for the Boys/Co-ed Travel program.
 
Girls Program
Jeff Eccleston provided recap of the Girls Program season results.
Emerging partnerships between local girls organizations were discussed in the positive light of strengthened local competition. 
 
With no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 10.32pm.
