A regularly scheduled board meeting of DYHA took place on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 7:45pm at Stamford Twin Rinks.  Present were board members Todd Halloran, Frank Cataudo, John von Stade, Art Flynn, Jeff Eccleston, David Hill, Larry Paredes, Lisa McCarthy, Nick Hathaway, Dave Kreppein, Dave Johnson, Pete Canelli and Gigi Williams.

House Program
Junior and Senior House Evaluations were completed early October.  Dave Kreppein and Nick Hathaway thanked Evaluators and Volunteers for ensuring the smooth execution of this process. 
All teams are now set up, with most levels full, and players on the waitlist will be contacted where any vacancies exist.
Goalie development in House to be a focus. Strong candidates to be identified for open Goalie sessions to take place in the second half of season.
 
Boys Travel
Constructive, positive feedback received on coaching staff. 
Coaches compliance with registration and coaching module requirements to be monitored.
 
Skill Clinics
Demand at various age groups to be monitored and adjustments deemed necessary made to sessions offered.
Impact of other Fall sports’ time commitments and schedules  to be evaluated after their conclusion in early November.
Member reaction to/perception of Skill Session scheduling discussed.
Future updates to the Skills Website content discussed.
 
Equipment
With Mighty Mites split into 4 teams this season, 2 sets additional Mighty Mite goalie equipment to be procured for the association.
Goalie equipment to be made available on loan on House Directors’ recommendation.
 
Community Service Initiatives
Lisa McCarthy and Jeff Eccleston updated the board on Community Service initiatives currently being undertaken by Boys and Girls Travel. 
The U12A Team was congratulated on raising $3500 for Breast Cancer Research.
 
Scheduling
The board provided feedback on the new ice venues being utilized by the association. 
Potential dates for Tryouts submitted, with further discussion to take place at a later date.
 
Communication
David Johnson provided an updated status on the social media development plan.
 
Girls Travel
Registered girls up 21% from last season. 
Favorable feedback on the addition of new coaching staff relayed by Jeff Eccleston.
Two U-10 teams formed – Darien Ice Cats White/Blue – to skate in GAL league. 
U14B to be featured in upcoming “CT loves Hockey”.
U12A finalists in Columbus Day “Pink in the Rink” Tournament at Sono Ice House.
U14A champions in CPCT Columbus Day Shootout.
 
Proposed Concussion Policy
Larry Paredes submitted a draft policy proposal to the board for discussion at a future date.
